March Madness Raffle – Wednesday, March 1 – Each day during March, a winning raffle ticket will be drawn as part of 8th grade’s March Madness Raffle. On Monday’s three prizes will be drawn to cover the days on the weekend. Raffle tickets can still be purchased throughout the month. We thank the many businesses and individuals who donated prizes and thank all who purchased tickets.

Hancock County Food Drive Begins – Wednesday, March 1 - EEMS will once again participate in the annual Hancock County Food Drive for the entire month of March. Boxes will be in the lobby for food collection. Thanks for helping others!

NAEP Testing for Grade 8 – Wednesday, March 1- The majority of 8th graders will take part in a federally run assessment called the National Assessment of Educational Progress.

Home Wrestling Meet – Wednesday, March 1 – 3:30-5PM in the gym.

Boys’ Basketball Awards Night – Thursday, March 2, 5:30PM in the small gym. JV and Varsity players and their families are invited to attend.

District Instrumental Jazz Festival – Friday, March 3 – Jazz Band competes at Brewer Community School.

Cooking and Gardening Club Resumes – Friday, March 3 – After taking February off, the Cooking and Gardening Club is back and will meet on Fridays from 1:45-2:45PM.

EEMS Cheerleading Competition – Friday, March 3 at the EEMS gym.

State Cheerleading Competition – Sunday, March 5 at the Cross Insurance Center.

Grade 6 Art Club – Monday, March 6 – The grade six Art Club runs for five Mondays starting March 14 and concludes on April 3. Join in!

Grade 7 Field Trips to the Challenger Center and UMO Planetarium– Monday, March 6 and Tuesday, March 7. The grade will be divided into three groups. 7M, 7L and half of 7S will go on Monday. 7H and half of 7S will go on Tuesday. A flyer with details will come home.

Robotics Club #2 – First Meeting – Tuesday, March 7 – A second club has been added so that all students on the waiting list can now create robots. Club meets each Tuesday until 4 in the grade 7 science lab. Mrs. Stackpole directs the program.

Home Wrestling Meet – Wednesday, March 8 at 3:30PM.

State Chess Meet at UMO – Saturday, March 11. Players are to be at EEMS at 6:45AM. Return at about 3:30PM.

Chess Team to State Tournament – Saturday, March 12 at UMO Memorial Union. Meet at EEMS at 6:45AM. Return at about 3:30PM.

EHS Open House for 8th Graders – Wednesday, March 15, 2017, 6-8:00 PM, starting with a presentation in the auditorium at 6PM. (Snow date: Wednesday, March 22, 2017

End of Trimester 2 – Friday, March 17 is the date that grades close.

St. Patrick’s Day Spirit Day – Friday, March 17. Students are encouraged to wear green. Green hats and green socks are most welcome.

College Aspiration Scholarship Applications Are Due Monday, March 24 – 5th and 6th graders who are completing applications and essays to be judged for the $100 college scholarships are to turn them in to the office on Monday, March 24.

Harry Potter Spirit Day – Friday, March 24 - Each grade dresses in colors representing their house: 5 and 6 are Hufflepuff and wear Yellow and Black, 7th and 8th are Griffindor and wear Scarlet Red and Gold (younger grades will be the other two houses)

PTF’s “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” Movie Night – Friday, March 24 – Doors open at 5:15PM and the movie starts at 5:45PM. The movie and popcorn are free! Pizza, drinks, desserts, glow sticks, glow bracelets and Harry Potter items will be on sale. Volunteers are needed to help sell food items and donations of baked goods are needed. A LuLaRoe fashion sale will also be taking place in the library. Funds benefit the PTF, which benefits our students.

Report Cards Go Home – Monday, March 27, is when report cards will be sent home.

Registration for EHS – Parents of 8th graders need to call EEMS (667-6241) to set up an appointment so you and your child can meet with his/her guidance counselor for about 15 minutes. Times and locations are:

DARE GraduationFriday, March 31 at 8:30 AM in the cafeteria. Grade 5 students will be honored at a ceremony for having completed the DARE program.

State Vocal Jazz Festival – Friday, March 31 at Sterns High School in Millinocket. Go Falcons!

Activity Night – Friday, March 31. Runs from 4-6PM for grade 5 with $3 entry fee. 6:30-9PM for grades 6-8 with a $5 entry fee. Students in grades 6-8 from out of town may attend. Refreshments will be on sale.
