MORNING ANNOUNCEMENTS – Grades 5-8, Wednesday, April 12, 2017

BOOK FAIR IS OPEN UNTIL 6PM TODAY- The spring book fair is today until 6PM. It is also open tomorrow during school hours.

SPEECH CONTEST FINALS – Last night's 7th grade speech contest was absolutely amazing.  The talented and well rehearsed presenters  kept the audience entertained and awed.  First place was earned by Noe Burmeister, second place went to Sunny Wight, third place to Georgianna Newenham, and Fiona Allen is our grade 7 alternate.

Ms Mattila and Ms Higgins want to thank all the participants and want to let you know how proud we are of you and your hard work.  A special thanks goes to our local stage professional and Broadway bound, Mr. Stevenson.  His expertise and skill taught our speakers how to perform their speeches at a level far beyond the typical classroom presentation.

Thank you to Mr. Stackpole for his precise timing, to Mr. Libby for his excellent MC skills, to Mrs. Stackpole for all the snack and drink materials, and to Mrs. Gallagher for her help with set up and her work with the judges.

SPRING PLAY AUDITIONS CONTINUE TODAY – Spring play auditions continue today after school from 3-5PM.

EEMS CHORUS AND ELEMENTARY “MUSIC MAKERS” PERFORM TOMORROW NIGHT – The EEMS Chorus (grades 5-8) and the Elementary “Music Makers” will perform a concert tomorrow evening at 6PM in the cafeteria.

VISUAL AND PERFORMING ARTS SCHOLARSHIPS - Our VPA Boosters group is offering a scholarship for lessons and summer camps in the visual and performing arts.  Applications are available from your music and art teachers.  Applications must be completed and turned in to Mrs. Ramey by April 30.

MICROSCOPE FESTIVAL – Tomorrow, Jackson Lab personnel will conduct a Microscope Festival in grade 6 with the help of several parent volunteers. All 6th grade students will participate. Many thanks to Kathleen Morse for setting it up.

NEW DATE FOR GRADUATION AND 8TH GRADE CLASS TRIP – 8th grade graduation has been moved to Thursday, June 15 to be followed by the class trip to New Hampshire on Friday, June 16. June 16 was the only Friday we could get Cyr buses, and we want to go on Friday because that is the one day that Canobie Lake Park has later operating hours.

THIS FRIDAY IS “ELLSWORTH PRIDE” SPIRIT DAY – This Friday is the day to wear all things Ellsworth. It can be EEMS spiritwear, Little League shirts, EHS shirts, or anything else having to do with Ellsworth. If you have an Ellsworth hat, feel free to wear it.
