Morning Announcements – Thursday, June 8, 2017

 

GRADE 8 HCTC VISIT TODAY – Grade 8 students will get to tour HCTC and learn about their programming for two hours on Thursday morning.

 

END OF YEAR POTLUCK TODAY- Today from 4-6:30PM, there will be a potluck dinner planned by the Garden Group. Please join us. Garden Club members are reminded to meet Ms. Anna in the garden at 4PM on Thursday to prepare for garden tours during the potluck.

 

FINAL GARDEN CLUB MEETING ON FRIDAY – The Garden Club’s last meeting of the year will be tomorrow, Friday, June 9.

 

REWARD TRIP NEXT MONDAY, JUNE 12 – Permission forms for next Monday’s reward trip need to be returned today, tomorrow or Monday. It would be most helpful if the forms come back by tomorrow so we can finalize how many buses we will need for the trip.

 

PLEASE VOTE ON SCHOOL BUDGET NEXT TUESDAY – Ellsworth’s voters will decide whether the school budget will pass at next Tuesday’s referendum vote. Please get out and vote.

 

LIBRARY BOOKS ARE DUE – Students. please search lockers, backpacks, classrooms, under beds, cars and anywhere else they can think of for library books.  

 

YEARBOOKS ARE ON SALE! – Yearbooks are on sale each day in the lobby during lunch for $23 until they are gone.

 

FIELD DAYS ARE NEXT WEEK!

Monday- Grade 7

Tuesday – Grade 8

Wednesday – Grade 6

Friday – Grade 5

 

GRADE 8 EVENTS NEXT WEEK:

Tuesday – Field Day

Tuesday – 8th Grade Dance from 6-9PM. Dinner served. Slide Show at 9PM for

                 parents, staff, and students.

Thursday – Graduation, 6PM in the gym. No reserved seating.

Friday – Class Trip to Canobie Lake Park in New Hampshire. 8AM Depart. 10PM

           Return.

 

YOUTH TAKING ACTION MEETING NEXT TUESDAY – The Youth Taking Action meeting typically on Mondays will be held on Tuesday next week due to the reward trip.

 

Monday, June 5th  -   HAMPDEN

 

On Monday the girls brought their bats ready to swing getting 12 hits.  Also showing patience at the plate taking 9 walks to beat Hampden 12 -9.  Abby Bland had 4 singles including a drag bunt, Sara Shea and Lexi Rossi contributed with 2 singles, Jane Wu, Laura Jude, and Hayden Hardison each singled.   Tyler Hellum had 13 strikeouts, 2 putouts and only allowed 5 hits.  Casey Carter, Olivia Ringuette, Abby Bland, Taylor Clark and Sara Shea combined for the other defensive stops.  Great game girls!

 

The JV girls ended their season with a big win against Hampden 20 -1.  Aggressive hitting, patience at the plate, great defensive, and amazing pitching led to this victory.  Bailey Clarke had a single with 2 RBI’s, Morgan Clifford had 2 singles with 3 RBI’s, and Grace Gumpp had a single.  Hannah Wagstaff and Alex Bivins combined for 9 strikeouts and 3 putouts.  Hannah Wagstaff had two putouts at third, Tessa Lemoine had two putouts at second, and Fiona Allen had 2 putouts.  This has been an amazing season.  I am very sad that it is over.  I will see you Monday night at 6pm. 

 

 

Wednesday, June 7th – BUCKSPORT

 

The Varsity girls ended the season in style beating Bucksport 10-9.  Tyler Hellum was strong in the circle throwing 7 strikeouts and adding another 5 putouts.  Casey Carter had 5 putouts on defense and assisted Sara Shea on two stole base attempts for outs.  Lexi Rossi also had two putouts in the game.  Our offense combined for 10 hits, a homerun and 2 singles from Casey Carter, a double by Sara Shea, 3 singles by Abby Bland, and singles by Lexi Rossi, Olivia Ringuette and Taylor Clark.  Thanks for a great season.  See you all Monday. 

 

End of the Year Celebration

 

Varsity and JV softball girls will celebrate their season Monday, June 12 at 6pm – after the reward trip.  We will celebrate our season in the Middle School Library.  Hope to see you all there!!
