Morning Announcements 5-8, Monday, December 8, 2014

Morning Announcements – Monday, December 8, 2014

1. Today is the first day that we will be starting with a later dismissal time. Please extend your last period class until 2:35 and then have students report to homeroom. The anticipated dismissal time is 2:40, however, please wait for the announcement as we don’t know for sure exactly how long it will take for the EHS buses to get here and then how long it will take for K-4 to load up before you can go. Thanks for your patience.

2. Today is the day that permission forms for our first trimester reward trip will go home with students who earned the trip for excellent behavior and work completion. The forms are due back no later than next Wednesday, December 17. Forms will not be accepted on the trip day, which is next Thursday the 18th. Parents are needed to help chaperone on buses, and there is a place on the form to indicate if you would like to help out.

3. NO JV Cheerleading practice today. Ms. Carter is out sick.

4. Please sign up for Talent Show auditions on the charts taped to the cafeteria windows. The first audition day is tomorrow from 7:55-8:10. Student reps may help judge the auditions. If you are attending the audition, please check in with your homeroom teacher first.

5. The first show choir meeting is tomorrow for just 15 minutes, from 2:45-3. You’ll be getting materials and paperwork to fill out. You must have your permission form in to attend.

6. This is the last week that parents can order gift cards through the PTF fundraiser. You get the gift card and PTF gets a percentage of the money collected through the sale of each card. The purple order form will go home with students on Wednesday and needs to be returned with payment on Friday. Parents can also download the form from our school website: ems.ellsworthschools.org

7. Good luck to our JV boys and girls teams as they travel to face Dedham today. We also have games on Thursday of this week. The girls have their first home game against Hamden while the boys will be travelling to Hampden.

8. This Friday is a K-8 Pajama Spirit Day.

9. This Friday is also the first PTF Family Movie Night of the year. The evening kicks off with a bake sale from 5:30-6:15. At 6:15, “The Polar Express” will be shown. Free popcorn will be provided. Families are to bring blankets to sit on and should bring their own drinks.

10.The pet food drive continues through next week, December 12. There is a box in the main lobby where those who wish to donate can drop off these specific brands of food: Purina Cat Chow Complete (blue bag), 9 Lives canned cat food, Friskies Classic Pate, Purina Dog Chow with real lamb and rice (red bag), and Purina Dog Chow – Healthy Life Nutrition (green bag).

11. Raffle tickets for Isabelle the American Girl Doll and raffle tickets for a remote control helicopter and laser tag tanks are on sale in the front lobby each morning until 8:10. Tickets are $1 or 6 for $5. Proceeds to benefit the 8th grade class.
