MORNING ANNOUNCEMENTS – Grades 5-8, Monday, March 6, 2017


EEMS VARSITY CHEERLEADERS REPEAT AS STATE CHAMPIONS IN VARSITY DIVISION, EEMS JVs PLACES 2ND IN JV DIVISION. – Yesterday’s State Championship Cheerleading Competition was held at the Cross Center in Bangor and our two teams performed very well. Our varsity team finished first in the varsity division and our JV team finished second in the JV division. Way to go girls, and thank you Coach Stackpole and Coach Whitney.


EEMS JAZZ BAND RATES A “1” AT DISTRICT JAZZ FESTIVAL – Our Jazz Band performed very well at Friday’s District Jazz Festival and received a “1” rating from the judges, which is the highest rating they give. This earns our jazz band a trip to the State Jazz Festival. Congratulations!


EEMS TAKES TOP 3 MEDALS AT SKILLS USA COMPETITION – Congratulations to our four participants at Friday’s Skills USA Competition. Autumn Paul, Sara Shea, Noe Burmeister, and Maddie Henry competed in the interview event. Maddie finished first, Sara was second, and Noe was third. These three girls won medals based on the points the earned for the resume they wrote, for completing a job application, and for the face-to-face interview they did. Way to go, girls!


GRADE 7 FIELD TRIP TODAY AND TOMORROW – Grade 7 will be going to the Challenger Learning Center and the Jordan Planetarium on Monday and Tuesday of next Week. On Monday, students in 7Libby and 7Mattila and 14 students from Ms. Higgins’ room will go. On Tuesday, students from 7Stackpole and the remainder of 7H students will go.


ART CLUB FOR GRADE 6 MEETS TODAY – All 6th grade students taking part in Art Club are reminded that today is when your program begins. It runs from 2:45-3:45.


YOUTH TAKING ACTION GROUP MEETS TODAY IN THE LIBRARY – The Youth Taking Action Group run by Healthy Acadia meets today from 2:24-4PM. It will continue to run on Mondays in the library into June. Flyers are in the lobby for those interested.


ROBOTICS CLUB “TEAM 2” STARTS TOMORROW, MARCH 7 – The first session for Robotics Club – Team 2 starts tomorrow, Tuesday, March 7. Students will report to the grade 7 science lab once school is out and each session will go until 4PM. Sessions will continue each Tuesday.


INTRAMURAL BASKETBALL STARTS TOMORROW – The plan is to hold Intramural Basketball tomorrow from after school until 4:15 in the big gym. Please bring your gear and your permission form so you can play.


2nd HOME WRESTLING MEET IS THIS WEDNESDAY – Our second and final home wrestling meet is this Wednesday. It should get underway at 4PM after weigh-in at 3:30PM. Good luck!


2 WEEKS LEFT IN TRIMESTER 2 – We have just two weeks left in the second trimester. Please be caught up in your work, which means some of you will need to spend time during the day or after school getting caught up or redoing work and assessments that need improvement. Keep in mind you will be receiving another HOW rating on the report card, so please finish strong with regard to being a Collaborative Worker, A Quality Worker, and a Responsible Citizen


MARCH MADNESS RAFFLE UPDATE – Friday’s winner of our March Madness Raffle was B.J. Fallica. She won a photo shoot from Fire Chicks Photography worth $125. Today we will pull out three winning tickets, one for Saturday, Sunday, and today.


HANCOCK COUNTY FOOD DRIVE RUNS ALL MONTH. – If you can bring in a food item for the Hancock County Food Drive, it would be greatly appreciated.


8TH GRADE BABY PICTURES WANTED – The Yearbook Club will be collecting baby pictures of 8th graders throughout the month of March. We are looking for 100% participation, so please bring in a picture.
