Morning Announcements – Friday, December 8, 2017, Grades 5-8

1. Last night’s Winter Concert was excellent. All participants clearly enjoyed playing and singing, and it showed. Thanks to Mrs. Kellogg and Mr. Edmondson for directing you, and thanks to the support from a packed house of parents nad family members. The $94 raised for the Visual and Performing Arts Boosters group is another sign of the support our community has for our programs at EEMS. The money goes towards music scholarships that benefit students in summer programs. Thank you!

2. Thanks to all of those students and staff members who dressed up in PJs today. You have great school spirit!

3. When you walk into EEMS you’ll see that some very dedicated PTF members have beautifully decorated the lobby and hallways for the season. There’s even a nicely decorated gingerbread house and some elves! Thank you!

All of the decorations fit in nicely with tonight’s free PTF Movie Night feature which is “Elf”. Doors open at 5PM and the movie starts at 5:30PM. Refreshments will be on sale, and a Lularoe clothing sale will be going on in the library. Students are to attend with parents.

4. 8th grade is conducting a raffle to help generate money for their end of year class trip and dance. The American Girl Doll named Gabriella, which is this year’s “Girl of the Year,” is one of the prizes in the raffle. The other prize is a Boarse Chariot Remote Control Car (2.4 ghz, 4x4). Mr. Newett will meet with 8JO’s homeroom at 9:20 today and with the rest of the 8th grade at 1:10 in the gym to provide raffle tickets to 8th graders to sell. The plan is to complete the sale in the next two weeks, just in time for the holidays. Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5.

5. The following students are signed up for their Talent Show audition on Monday:

Jaiden Hicks
Tate Schaffner-Whary
Hannah Farnsworth
Vivianne Walczak
Orion W and Kobe S.

We will meet in the health room after these announcements. Reps who would like to help in the selection process for the talent show should also come to the health room.

6. 5M and 5J will be headed to Portland to take part in a research project at the Gulf of Maine Research Institute. Students from those homerooms will return to school at 6:30PM. 5S and 5V go next Thursday.
