I am very excited to be teaching third grade in the Learning Community. The unique structure of this environment gives me a wonderful opportunity to get to know all of the students in these four classes. This will be especially helpful next year as I will already be familiar with my incoming students.
I began my teaching career over thirty years ago in Orland. From there, I ventured to Memphis, TN, where I taught inner-city students. Later, I relocated to nearby Millington, TN, home of the largest inland Naval air station. Eventually, I returned to Maine and continued teaching in Bangor for eighteen years. Finally, I was thrilled to accept a position here in Ellsworth and I consider this the best place that I have worked.
I earned my Bachelor's degree in Education from Baldwin-Wallace College (now University), in Berea, Ohio,a Master's in Business from Husson College (now University), and a Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Leadership from the University of Maine in Orono. I have also had some wonderful experiences in recertification work including Teaching for Understanding from Harvard University, Marine and Natural History courses from College of the Atlantic, as well as many seminars that have not only broadened my professional knowledge but also brought me together with teachers of varied backgrounds and interests.
