I am Barbara Small a grade 5 teacher at EEMS. I have taught fifth grade in Ellsworth for 30 years. I have a BS degree in Elementary Education from the University of Maine at Machias. I have planned and directed the Winter Carnival throughout my career. I have coached the middle school Intramural Basketball and Softball for 25 years.
I am the PLC Facilitator for Grade 5. I am responsible for organizing team meetings, writing minutes, and laying out topics from our calendar.
I teach an AM & PM Math with both Ms. Small & Mrs. Violette's rooms. I also teach Science and Health for both homerooms separately.
I feel professionally challenged in Ellsworth using these programs- iReady (mini & diagnostic testing), MEA testing, ATLAS, RTI, HOW's (Habits of Work), ILP's, IEP's, SLO's (teacher evaluation system), SOP's, Stemscopes Science, and other important programs designed to assess and plan individual programming for students. Also new this year is the new Proficiency Based scoring & grading, GO MATH, Jump Rope (a new lesson & scoring program,and full implementation of the Common Core.
