Hi! I graduated from the University of Maine, Orono in 2005 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and a double concentration in both math and childhood development. During the first few years of my teaching career I also obtained my Master’s Degree in Literacy through Walden University.
Previously, in MSAD 40, I was a classroom teacher in K, 1st, 5th & 6th grades, spending the most time in kindergarten. For MSAD 40, I was also a Reading Recovery teacher and literacy interventionist and curriculum committee member. During school year 2012-2013, I was a Title IA Math Coordinator for RSU24 working on evaluating and implementing new curriculum. Currently, I have my absolute dream position working as a literacy interventionist for grade K-2 at Ellsworth Elementary Middle School!
During my time with ESD I have also been a member of a K-8 Leadership Team, helped to support teachers with implementation of new curriculum and assessments and worked with a literacy team to analyze the performance of students K-4.
Teaching literacy is my passion. Working with struggling readers can be a challenge but it is also the most rewarding! Watching a young child begin to bring books alive as they emerge as a reader is exciting and powerful.
