Ellsworth Elementary Middle School

Kate Anderson

I graduated from Smith College in 1998 with a focus in studio art. After graduation, I moved to Los Angeles, California and worked as a graphic designer in web and print design. With four years in the city, I moved back to Maine to attend the University of Maine in Orono Master of Arts in Teaching program. I graduated in 2003 with a focus in Elementary Education.

I started my teacher career as a multiage K-1 teacher at Lyman Elementary School in Lyman, Maine.  I then moved to fourth grade and the following year I had the wonderful opportunity to become a Literacy Coach in the district. During my time coaching I completed my Certificate of Advanced Study in Literacy Education in 2006 at the University of Southern Maine. I enjoyed my time working with K-12 teachers and students in the area of literacy, but missed being in the classroom.  In 2010, I moved to Hussey Elementary School in Berwick and there I taught kindergarten for two years and just finished my fourth year in second grade this past year.

This summer I moved to the area to be closer to my family and I am very excited to be starting my thirteenth year of teaching in the Learning Community at Ellsworth Elementary-Middle School as a third grade teacher!
