I am excited to be the Middle School Art Teacher here at EEMS. I love working with and inspiring young people. As the parent of four children of my own, I am dedicated to providing an encouraging, safe, and fun environment for learning and creative exploration.
Prior to my career in teaching, I managed and curated a fine art gallery in Hawaii. I also worked in marketing and product development for the largest paid tourist attraction in Hawaii. In that role, I produced cultural educational films and music albums, published books, designed and manufactured textiles and clothing, and sourced and displayed cultural artifacts. I have experience translating artistic principles and skills into a wide variety of art mediums and practical market applications. I am excited to share my experience with my students and help them realize the exciting possibilities that are ahead, if they apply themselves.
As an art teacher, I will help students find and develop confidence in their own unique voice and perspective, while exploring multiple perspectives and artistic methods. They will gain self-confidence as they invest themselves and take pride creating and displaying their works of art.
I have a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in fine art, with an emphasis in ceramics, photography, and watercolor, as well as focus in art history, psychology, and the Japanese language.
