SNHS group - Mad Scientist Scramble

It was thrilling to see our community come together once again this past weekend as the Ellsworth High School Science National Honor Society (SNHS) hosted their annual Mad Scientist Scramble! On Sunday, April 12, runners and walkers of all ages gathered in Ellsworth for a day of fitness, fun, and fundraising for a vital local cause.

This year’s event was dedicated to supporting the YMCA Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab Program, and thanks to our participants and sponsors, we were able to make a meaningful contribution to this important community resource.

The morning kicked off with two featured races: a high-energy Fun Run and a competitive 5K! The 5K race saw 34 determined athletes take to the course. Owen Didonato led the pack as the overall winner with a stellar time of 21:12.3. On the women’s side, Maddie Kane took first place, crossing the finish line at 23:42.6 For the winners of all categories - click here!

The Fun Run The Fun Run brought out 14 enthusiastic racers, showcasing the next generation of athletes. Lincoln Kent took the overall win with a swift time of 5:55.6, while Robin Kent secured the top spot for the girls at 8:04.4! Click here for the Fun Run results!

An event of this scale is only possible with the generous support of our local business community – and we see that each and every year! We would like to extend a massive "Thank You" to our community sponsors:

  • Woodland Studios (for the awesome event T-shirts!)

  • Downeast Family YMCA

  • Pat's Pizza

  • Leighton Electric, LLC

  • Acadia 867 Bar & Grill

  • Consolidated Electrical Distributors, Inc.

  • Billings Forest Products, Inc.

  • Larson Trailers

  • Morton's Moos

  • Hannaford

Finally, we want to thank every single participant who laced up their sneakers to support the cause. A huge shout-out also goes to the SNHS crew and our dedicated organizers who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure everything ran smoothly. Your hard work truly paid off!
