We are excited to announce that we are transitioning to a new model of delivering Title IA services to our students at Ellsworth Elementary Middle School. We are applying to become a schoolwide program where our Title IA grant funds will be able to support all teachers and students in K-8 reading and math classrooms. In designing and implementing the schoolwide plan, a school can implement strategies that: "(1) provide opportunities for all children to meet challenging State academic standards; (2) use methods and instructional strategies that strengthen the academic program in the school, increase the amount and quality of learning time, and help provide an enriched and accelerated curriculum, which may include programs, activities, and courses necessary to provide a well-rounded education; and (3) address the needs of all students, but particularly those at risk of not meeting challenging State academic standards. " (ESEA section 1114(b)(7)(A)). Please let us know if you have any questions or comments at rkohrmanramos@ellsworthschools.org.

BLUE HILL PENINSULA SUMMER YOUTH TRACK
This youth track program is open to children throughout the Peninsula, from those about to enter kindergarten to those who have just graduated 8th grade. Absolute beginners are welcome, as are experienced athletes. Children can participate in a wide range of track and field activities, including running, hurdling, relays, race-walking, jumps (high, long, triple) and throws (discus, shot and turbo javelin). The program is coached by GSA track coaches David Stearns and Isaac Vaccaro and GSA track and field athletes. The season is from late June to early
August.
Starting on June 21, the club will meet for practices Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, 5:30 – 6:30, at the Blue Hill Consolidated School. The club will compete in a series of four or five regional track meets in greater Bangor on Thursday afternoons beginning on June 3. Many athletes also participate through the state-wide championship meet in early August. While most athletes participate in the full season and in the meets, some participate for only part of
the season due to family commitments, or attend practices only without competing. The club operates under the supervision of the USATF and the Blue Hill Town Rec Department.
Please contact David Stearns at d.stearns@georgestevens.org or 266-5589 if you are interested and to get more detailed information, including costs and registration information.
Hello,
This is a reminder for the walk-a-thon scheduled for Friday, May 27th. Student pledge sheets and pledges need to be turned into the homeroom teacher by June 1. Students in grades 3 and 4 will walk from 8:30 am to 9:30 am. Students in grades K-2 will walk from 9:30 am to 10:30 am. This is a change from the handout shared with parents. We look forward to a great event. Thank you for your support!
